Houston Chronicle Editorial Board: We recommend Michael McCaul
Houston, TX — On Friday morning, the Houston Chronicle Editorial Board recommended Michael McCaul for TX-10. The Editorial Board noted McCaul’s record as one of the most effective and bipartisan members of Congress saying:
“After eight terms in Congress, U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul has emerged as a key player in foreign affairs and national security. He has also built a reputation for bipartisanship in an increasingly polarized political landscape.”
“In a recent ranking of lawmakers by their support for bipartisan legislation, McCaul, a Republican, led the Texas delegation and placed ninth overall. McCaul’s bipartisan accomplishments include creating a federal cybersecurity agency and bills to fight childhood cancer and human trafficking.”
“That ability has served McCaul and his constituents well in the 10th Congressional district, which stretches from the greater Austin area to Cypress, Katy and other suburbs just northwest of Houston. Also invaluable is his experience on the Foreign Affairs committee and as chair of a congressional task force on China.”
“…trading an accomplished and pragmatic congressman would not serve the district well. We recommend McCaul for another term. Texas’ clout in Washington is already dimming, and the state will be better off with McCaul still in office when the dust settles from the 2020 election.”
