There’s too much division in Washington, too much focus on partisan politics instead of results. I have spent my entire career working with members of both parties to get good things done for the people of Texas and that’s why I’m rated as the 3rd most effective member of Congress and the most bipartisan representative from the state of Texas. To me, it’s about making a difference on the issues that matter most.
As the former Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee and now the current Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, I’m working to keep Americans safe and protect the homeland. As the Chair of the China Task Force, I am leading the fight against the malign agenda of the Chinese Communist Party, working to hold them accountable for their role in the spread of the coronavirus, while also passing critical bipartisan legislation and bringing manufacturing back to the United States.
I’m running to rebuild our economy and defend Texas energy, to lower healthcare and prescription drug costs, and to strengthen American cybersecurity to protect our citizens as well as our power grid and financial institutions from an attack. I’m running to deliver results for the most vulnerable members of our community — I founded the Childhood Cancer Caucus to give children with cancer a voice in the Congress and I have passed critical legislation to combat human trafficking. I will continue to prioritize our veterans, who have sacrificed so much for this country.
The coronavirus is an obstacle that has presented many challenges, but I’m also the eternal optimist and I’m confident that we will rebuild the United States stronger than ever before by coming together, Democrats and Republicans, and finding common ground on common sense relief efforts, such as the Paycheck Protection Program that has saved over 220,000 jobs in TX-10.
I’m proud to be a fourth-generation Texan, the son of a World War II veteran, a husband and a father. We live in the greatest country the world has ever known. America is a place of opportunity and I intend to make sure that these opportunities are available for years and years to come for every American.
