MEDIA ADVISORY: McCaul Joins Leader McCarthy to Hold Press Conference in Houston on Holding Chinese Communist Party Accountable Under Republican Majority

HOUSTON, T.X. – China Task Force Chairman Michael McCaul will join Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) in hosting a press conference tomorrow – Thursday, September 8th – in the Houston area with Members and candidates on holding the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accountable under a new Republican majority in the HouseHouston has been the target of the CCP’s malign actions for years, and in July 2020, the Chinese Consulate in Houston was closed due to its role in massive illegal spying and influence operations throughout the United States against U.S. government officials and American citizens. In 2020, Rep. McCaul was selected by Leader McCarthy to chair the China Task Force, which released a report in September 2020 outlining the steps the U.S. government needed to take to confront the China challenge. Rep. McCaul was chosen in 2021 to continue his leadership of the task force.
